THE LATEST TREND IN NIGERIA

 End Sars! End Sars!!  End Sars!!! is what i have been seeing lately on the road, on the internet and almost everywhere I look. Come to think of it some people shouting "ENDSARS" don't even know what Sars is.

Well this post is to enlighten you on who SARS officials are and what SARS is all about. At the end of this post I Hope you must have learnt something and know were you stand on this matter .


WHAT  IS SARS 

The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) is a Nigerian Police Force unit under the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department headed by the Deputy Inspector General of Police Anthony Ogbizi was founded in 1992 by former police commissioner Simeon Danladi Midenda. The major reason SARS was formed was when Col. Rindam, a Nigerian Army Colonel was killed by police officers at a checkpoint in Lagos. (MY POV : The irony is that it was founded because an army Colonel was killed by police officers, I repeat Police Officers and who are SARS officials; they are police officers). They had a lot of Victories as  they infiltrated  universities and uncovered actual fraudsters and cultist groups , stopped robbery missions and did a whole lot of other things.

The menace started about 2009 when people who were asked to protect us started exploiting and killing our youth. They started attacking innocent Nigerian citizens all in the name of catching criminals. SARS mostly attack youth with dreads, piercings, expensive phones and  those who drive expensive cars or even drive cars at all. This makes me to ask if SARS is against the progress of young Nigerians youths? 

In fact I know someone who was harassed by SARS officials just because of his dreads and because he is a tech guy, he was beaten, detained and then asked to pay the sum of fifty thousand Naira for his release ( after beating me i will now pay you , LOL). They not only physically but emotionally harassed my friend and after that incident he was really depressed and decided to cut his dreads, now this is the part that made me extra sad because i honestly envied those fine dreads.

Now this people graduated from harassing young and innocent Nigerians to actually killing us like chicken. I can't say SARS is completely useless because they actually caught criminals but i feel they abandoned their job and focused completely on terrorising the youths in Nigeria.

CAN SARS ACTUALLY END ?

I would have written this piece on Father's Day but I didn't want to be selfish. I didn't want to turn a happy occasion to a sad one. So I'll write it today, some days after Father's Day.
