MY YEAR SO FAR ❤️❤️

 Happy new month to  my amazing readers. We are six months into 2023 and all I can say is "Thank God" because I have learnt some important  lessons I'll like to share.

1.) NO PRESSURE: At the beginning of this year, I told myself that I would not set any time-bound "New Year's resolution" for myself because it only brings pressure and disappointment when one can't achieve anything. This year, I picked consistency over pressure because, as the old saying goes "slow and steady wins the race".

2.) BOUNDARIES: This was the first lesson I learnt this year. Boundaries apply not only to the rules and limits we set for others in our lives but also to the limits we set for ourselves in the lives of others. I know how much one might want to help and show concern for others, but we should be careful  so as not to be seen as "doing too much". Employ the use of personal boundaries to avoid see finish today.

3.) FAILURE: Sometimes failure is essential for success; it all depends on how we handle it. Whatever you do, don't let it weigh you down. I used to be afraid of trying new things because I was afraid to fail, but this year has taught me that some failures and rejections are essential because they are embedded with life lessons that only push one to work harder and remember "You lose 100% of the shots you don't take". 

4.)A WIN IS A WIN: No matter how big or small your wins are, celebrate them. You don't have to throw a big party; a word of prayer or a bottle of Coke might just be right for the occasion. I believe little achievements are forerunners to greater ones. Lest I forget, because every win, no matter how small matters, I just want to share with you that I am now a pageant queen. Yes, the first pageant queen and face of Augustine University  "MISS AUI."

Lastly, I hope you learnt a thing or two from the above, and you could also share some of the things you've also learnt so far this year. You are special, and I hope the rest of the year brings you nothing but absolute happiness.

    This is so great! A lot of personal development in life and the write ups! Keep it up!!
    I learnt the value of prayer, importance of listening to others and patience( still in the process tho😭😂)

    These are great achievements you have made. I do believe you will learn more lessons in the remaining half of the year especially as the new Queen of AU.
    I learnt the power of Unity and trust in God this year.

SOME DAYS AFTER FATHER'S DAY

I would have written this piece on Father's Day but I didn't want to be selfish. I didn't want to turn a happy occasion to a sad one. So I'll write it today, some days after Father's Day. I don't think I was ever told what death was. Not even now. No one ever sat with me to have that "talk", the one that tries to soften the tough blow reality has dealt you. I just… knew. Today, a lot of people are quick to judge others who undergo cosmetic surgeries, especially in Africa, but are not quick to remember the snide remarks made to such individuals in the past about their bodies. Rome wasn't built in a day; decisions like these are most likely the result of negative comments they have heard over the years. Many of our parents try to understand where our insecurities stem from, forgetting they were the first to make "harmless" jokes or comments about our bodies or looks as children.
