THE WISHLIST 💕

Happy New month eyin fans mi and welcome to the magical month of December when greats such as my self were born. I pray this month brings you so much happiness and favour.  Speaking of favours, ever felt like a highway robber when someone asks " What do you want?" and although you know what you want, it's at the tip of your tongue,  but you just say " I don't know, surprise me" . You know  you genuinely don't want to be surprised but how do you express your desires without looking like a thief. This is the exact feeling I get every year when I get asked what I want for my birthday. My birthday is  on the 9th of December (save the date) and  this year I have decided it will be different because one of my biggest discoveries this year is that a closed mouth is a closed destiny that never gets fed  and since I don't want my destiny to be closed, I have decided to bring to your attention some of the things I would want to be gifted on my birthday: 1.)A B...

MADNESS: A DIVISION IGNORED

The popular saying " Many are mad but few are roaming" is something that has made more sense to me very recently after interacting with different people.  Madness popularly known as "werey" or "crase" is becoming rampant amongst humans today and  as your big sister, i feel it is my responsibility to  enlighten you on the divisions  of madness. From my research  I have arrived at the conclusion that there are two main divisions of madness; "werey alakisa" and "werey alaso".  Werey Alakisa which translates to "a mad person wearing rags" is  most times the kind of madness that is easily recognized because these people roam the streets.    On the other hand  'Werey alaso" which is the division that I want to shed more light on  translates to  "a mad person wearing clothes".  These people  are mad but not roaming, they are the literal definition of "werey dey disguise" . They'll help you understand...

THE DILEMMA THAT COMES WITH BEING UNIQUE

It's such a big flex to have a unique and rare name until no one knows how to pronounce it and they choose to pronounce whatever they feel like pronouncing . My name is Immaculata but for some reason people have chosen to call me "Immaculate", "Emma", "Imma", "Emmanuella" and every other thing they can think of that is actually not my name. I once told  someone that my name is "Immaculata" and they said "why not Immaculate??, That's fresher". I was so confused, so I should leave my actual name and pick the one you like because to you it is "fresh". I ask again "Wetin Musa no go see for gate??" My traditional name has been murdered by people and their excuse is "I am not from your tribe", make it make sense. I like my traditional name so much but I am afraid to introduce myself that way because of what people are likely to pronounce. In primary school I went by my traditional name which I a...

PEPPER SENT ME TO THE ER

It was the eve of  2021 and my uncle had thrown a party. Although I had previously had two surgeries  about a month before and was still recovering. I was super excited,  suddenly felt strong enough and forgot I wasn't fully healed and my ulcer had worsened after surgery. That night, I saw suya swimming in pepper and although I knew I wasn't supposed to, something was pushing me, you can call it "village people". So when I saw my cousin eating suya, I stole his last piece and chewed it as fast as possible. By the time he was telling me to spit out, the meat had already gotten to my stomach and I smiled  thinking I had gotten away with my little mischief.  I thought I could cheat nature, I quickly went to take all my ulcer medication that I was giving from my previous attack which was on Christmas Eve. At exactly five minutes to 2021, my stomach began to give me signs. I prayed that it couldn't be what I thought but I remembered "heaven helps those who help...

MY UNDERESTIMATED SUPER POWER🤭

Image
I can sleep at anytime, anywhere, under any condition and if this isn't a super power,  then I don't know what is. Once I place my head on my pillow "it's gone" .  The ability to sleep with ease is so underrated and underestimated. Some people pay to have this power but they can't have it, some  can't  even afford  the time to use this super power even if they wanted to and then there are a lucky few like me who have this power and can use it whenever we want. "Sleep is the golden chain that binds our health and bodies together". Some of the many  health benefits of sleep are; it helps to maintain weight, improves mood, lowers the risk of heart disease, improves sharpness of the mind and rumour has it also that it's beneficial to the skin. For skincare addicts, this is a no-cost investment. So, tell me, why aren't you still getting enough sleep?  Be thankful for little things like the ability to sleep because it goes a long wa...

HOW TO SURVIVE UNIVERSITY 101

Hiii my people, I know I disappeared for the longest time but I am back now. School  stressed me  too much this semester but guess who is  successfully done with her first year of university?? Me 🤭. If  I could capture what I feel presently in one phrase, it just has to be " Calm down Calm down, you have escaped" because I don't understand the kind of shege I saw. Now as a big sister and proper undergraduate  I feel I am in a good  position to advice people who are about to enter the university and to remind those already in the race  of a few things . 1.) SHEGE WILL BE SEEN:  One just has to be prepared for shege because it only gets worse. Don't go clowning and think university is like what you see in movies . Both federal, state and private schools, I assure that there's  no escape route. Shege comes in different varieties so be ready for whichever one life throws at you. It's ok to complain sometimes , it doesn't really change much...

MY YEAR SO FAR ❤️❤️

Happy new month to  my amazing readers. We are six months into 2023 and all I can say is "Thank God" because I have learnt some important  lessons I'll like to share. 1.) NO PRESSURE: At the beginning of this year, I told myself that I would not set any time-bound "New Year's resolution" for myself because it only brings pressure and disappointment when one can't achieve anything. This year, I picked consistency over pressure because, as the old saying goes "slow and steady wins the race". 2.) BOUNDARIES: This was the first lesson I learnt this year. Boundaries apply not only to the rules and limits we set for others in our lives but also to the limits we set for ourselves in the lives of others. I know how much one might want to help and show concern for others, but we should be careful  so as not to be seen as "doing too much". Employ the use of personal boundaries to avoid see finish today. 3.) FAILURE: Sometimes failure is essent...
